Pegasus - Reflect and Review

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a great week of learning in Pegasus class. In Maths, we have been learning how to calculate money in pence and pounds, including finding the same amount and calculating change. In English, we have been exploring the forest setting from Hansel and Gretel. We have been looking at the five senses and using similes and prepositions in preparation of writing a setting description.

In Computing, we have been exploring how to count and compare data. We created our own data using a tally chart about our favourite pets and eye colours, answering questions about our data. In Music, we have continued exploring the song ‘Little brother dance with me’ from the Hansel and Gretel opera and started learning the song ‘A man stood in the forest’.

In Outdoor Learning, the children did den building activities and created their own bug hotels. Some made dens they could go in and seek shelter and some made animal dens.

Next week:

Next week, we will be writing our setting descriptions about the mysterious forest from Hansel and Gretel. In maths, we will be recognising, making and adding equal groups to understand the concept of multiplication.

Please remember to do the Maths homework ready to hand in on Monday - look at the sticker on the homework books if you need a reminder of which weeks are due in.

Outdoor Learning dates are: 12th February. Please make sure your child comes to school with their outdoor kit on those dates.

Parent Forum
We're looking forward to welcoming parents for our Parent Forum this Tuesday at 6pm. We'll be talking about our Approach to Behaviour, Staff Growth and the HSA. We look forward to seeing you then.
Parking and Travelling to School
We'd like to remind parents to consider the impact of their parking at pick up and drop off. Concerns have been raised at the dangerous behaviour that some drivers have shown; parking on pavements without space to pass, blocking driveways and parking or stopping on the yellow zig-zags, all of which are not allowed. Additionally, we would ask parents with children on bikes to walk them down to the bottom of the driveway before mounting, we've seen a number of near misses with cars turning on the residents road.
Other information
We have started using the school field so please ensure that your child brings indoor shoes to school to wear in the classroom. There are several students who do not currently seem to have them and when it is muddy, children won’t be allowed on the field if they do not have changes of shoes.
