Delphinus - Reflect and Review
Dear Delphinus Delights!
Another amazing week in class despite the few changes and different friendly faces to teach us whilst Molly is on her training week!
In Maths this week we rounded off our fractions topic, looked at ordinal numbers and finished the week off by looking at Milos' money! Finding out that sharing into 2 unequal parts does not mean ‘half’ was a tricky concept. We will tackle this again next week!
Maths homework is week 14 and is due on Monday along with our physical activity sheets if you are partaking in that! We still have some stickers left for some maths homework books, that show what each week’s practice should be. If your child DOES NOT have a Summer Term sticker in the front of their book, please can you hand it in personally to Molly on Monday so we can make sure that is rectified – thank you!
This week in Curious Quest we looked at the book My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes
By Eve Sutton and Lynley Dodd. The funny illustrations and predictable rhythm kept the class engaged and encouraged lots of participation and discussion.
The vocabulary they looked at this week included the words: CONCEALED, PEERING, JIVING, SOARING, UNDER THE WEATHER, INTELLIGENT, DROWSY!
They had fun pairing the words with actions; this really helps them to remember the vocabulary and gives them a chance to be silly!
We read, watched and talked through a version of the book which you can all access too : https://www.youtube.com/watchv=nKKWuFfYeYQ
In their quest this week The Faithful Friends came across the The Hovering Helicopter and the children revelled in writing all about A Baddy Cat! Ask them about their potions to make the poorly cat from Brazil better!

In the wider curriculum this week we explored our science topic!
We looked at environments and minibeasts, pets and how we look after them and even invented our own pets out of junk modelling materials!
Although we thoroughly enjoyed all of this, it was absolutely heartbreaking to announce to the children that the Zoo lab unfortunately had to cancel at the last minute due to sickness, however we have been able to rearrange to the 26th June!
I know how excited the children were for this (and the teachers) so we are very sorry for the inconvenience but sickness can't be helped. On the bright side, we created our OWN Zoolab with imaginary exotic animals! We also used our small world and construction equipment to build a massive zoo, across the whole classroom! We thought about which animals might want to be housed together, and which ones needed to be apart!
We are practising cricket skills in PE on Fridays and have Netball taught by the Sports Coach on Mondays. Please make sure your child comes in PE kit on those days, especially as the weather is getting warmer and the children are getting sweatier!
Lost Property! We had a huge amount of un-named hoodies and sweatshirts in our box outside the classroom door. These have now gone to the box at the front of school – do have a good rummage if your child is missing something!
