Delphinus - Reflect and Review

Dear Delphinus Families,

We have had yet another lovely week! The weather has been gorgeous and we have had lots of opportunities for outside learning!

Maths this week continued with arrays and then we started to look at halves and quarters of shapes. We have also been practising part-part-whole equations and the children have impressed us with their number bonds knowledge! We continued programming each other as robots for moving backwards and forwards, as well as having another go at lefts and rights with Mrs C on Thursday.

Maths homework is Week 12 and is due in on Monday!

Curious Quest has been tackling the Biscuit Goblins and writing all about ‘Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy’ by Lynley Dodd. We watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BQH1l5ahm8&t=84s as well as reading it several times from the book.

We have extended our vocabulary this week with: Pottering Substantial Coated Emerge Prancing Debris Squat Hair-raising and we wrote about different ways to outclass Scarface Claw. Ask about the bravery potions the children created!

Our phonics videos this week are below. There is an extra one especially for the Bank Holiday!

We hope you are enjoying watching them at home!

Our wider curriculum this week was using technology for artwork and we have created some wonderful designs based on Kandinsky’s circles art, using ipads! Mrs C had to learn alongside the children too!

In Big 5 we thought about our value – Being Brave. We thought about what it is that makes us unique and special. Lara the Ladybird tried to change her yellow wings into red to be like her friends. We learnt we should love ourselves and try not to change to be like others. That is a really brave thing to do!

Next week:

In Curious Quest The Faithful Friends come across The Bag of Joy and we then go on our quest with  with Alan and his Scary Teeth! Our maths continues with finding halves and quarters of shapes and objects. Wider Curriculum becomes musical as we learn about The Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns. It is a shorter week however so we won’t have time to create our own carnival unfortunately! The class will be being taught by Mrs Radford on Friday, and then some of the following week, with Mrs C teaching her usual Thursdays!

Zoolab visit 14th May  Thank you if you have already paid. We have however, received less than half of the payments towards this event, so please do consider making your contribution this weekend – thank you.

We have a lot of unnamed uniform in school at the moment, please ensure that your child's uniform is all named so that it can make its way back to you.
