Cygnus and Pegasus Nativity Information
Dear Parents and Carers
Cygnus and Delphinus Nativity Performance
The date of our Nativity Performance is Tuesday 9th December at 2pm. We are very much looking forward to seeing you on that date. Families are allocated two spaces per child. The doors will open at 1.40pm, and the performance will last approximately 30 minutes.
Your children will come home with a slip this week saying what they will be and what costume they will need.
Singing
Some Reception class children will have small parts and will be given their lines shortly but for the majority the emphasis is on the singing. We will be rehearsing as much as our timetable allows but we would love you to provide support by giving them lots of practice at home with the songs and carols. See below for the lyrics and video links. We will also be asking parents to join in on the night with some of the verses!
Costumes
Once you have a slip, please could you send the costume into school in a named bag no later than Monday 1st December.
Charity shops are good places to pick up material, and these links give you ideas about easy ways to make the costumes:

If your child is one of the Nativity animals we would like them to wear a headband showing the animals face with their costume. We will supply the paper template for this to each child. Please follow the instructions to make it and reinforce it by sticking the paper to cardboard.
Thank you very much for your support, and, as always, any questions please do ask.
Best wishes,
Emma Papanikitas and Georgia Mazower and Lucy, Molly and Mrs Jan.

Little Donkey (NB: end at 1.24 on the video)

Little donkey, little donkey
On the dusty road
Got to keep on plodding onward
With your precious load
Been a long time, little donkey
Through the winter’s night
Don't give up now, little donkey
Bethlehem's in sight
Ring out those bells tonight
Bethlehem, Bethlehem
Follow that star tonight
Bethlehem, Bethlehem
Little donkey, little donkey
Had a heavy day
Little donkey, carry Mary, safely on her way
One thousand Christmas lights
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRmfj3jtkEc
Now light one thousand Christmas lights
On dark earth here tonight;
One thousand, thousand also shine
To make the dark sky bright.
Now light one thousand Christmas lights
On dark earth here tonight;
One thousand, thousand also shine
To make the dark sky bright.
Oh, once when skies were starry bright,
In stable cold and bare
Sweet Mary bore a Son that night,
A Child both kind and fair.
She named her little Son Jesú,
Sweet Mary, meek and mild.
She cradled and she rocked Him too,
That little tiny child.
Now light one thousand Christmas lights
On dark earth here tonight;
One thousand, thousand also shine
To make the dark sky bright.
He came to bring us love and light,
To bring us peace on Earth,
So let your candles shine tonight
And sing with joy and mirth.
Now light one thousand Christmas lights
On dark earth here tonight;
One thousand, thousand also shine
To make the dark sky bright.
Now light one thousand Christmas lights
On dark earth here tonight;
One thousand, thousand also shine
To make the dark sky bright.
We Three Kings
We Three Kings with Lyrics | Christmas Carol
We three kings of Orient are;
bearing gifts we traverse afar,
field and fountain, moor and mountain,
following yonder star.
O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to thy perfect light.
Born a King on Bethlehem's plain,
gold I bring to crown him again,
King forever, ceasing never,
over us all to reign.
O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to thy perfect light.
Ding Dong Merrily on High
Ding Dong Merrily on High with Lyrics | Christmas Carol & Song
Ding dong, merrily on high!
In heav’n the bells are ringing;
Ding dong, verily the sky
Is riv’n with angel singing.
Gloria, hosannah in excelsis!
E'en so here below, below,
Let steeple bells be swungen,
And io, io, io,
by priest and people sungen.
Gloria, hosannah in excelsis!
Pray ye dutifully prime
your matin chime, ye ringers;
may ye beautifully rhyme
your evetime song, ye singers.
Gloria, hosannah in excelsis!
