Cygnus - Reflect and Review
Dear Reception families
We have had a stellar start to the term by launching our theme for the term Outer Space!
The children have been piloting space missions and exploring the stars in our class role play area and we have talked about what we know and would like to know about space. They have come up with some fantastic questions they would like to ask about space including: Is the moon really made of cheese? Why is space so dark? What happened when men landed on the moon? How do rockets fly up into the sky?
Maths this week has focused on linking counted or subitised number with abstract written number. What does the number look like and how do we write the number down?
The children learned to play simple track games.
We have been reading together this week and the children have been helping each other blend and read words in class.
On Friday, we explored the art medium of collage together and the children collaged planets, the moon and sun.
We have introduced the Big3 and Me programme this week. The children met the three animals: Paxton the peaceful panda, Cali the loving puppy and Tao the truthful turtle. Next week we will be starting to use the programme to talk about our emotions and how we manage them.

Notices:
If your child is going home with someone else, please make sure you email the school office to advise us of the change: office@nhps.org.uk
Please can all children bring a book bag daily to allow us to send written work and books home when needed? Small rucksacks are too small to accommodate A4 paper and library books.
Please make sure the children have a waterproof coat every day. We have outdoor play as often as possible and we need to be ready for changes in the weather. Please also bring a hat, scarf and gloves for the colder weather.
Children also need a pair of indoor shoes/plimsoles to change into to come into the classroom and a spare set of clothes, including pants and socks, for any accidents.
Best wishes
