Corvus and Draco - Reflect and Review
Dear Parents and Carers,
Corvus
In Corvus, we have been building our sentence construction skills this week, identifying and using a variety of grammatical features, and we managed to finish the term’s book (Ice Palace). In Maths, we have started to explore the 4 times table, with multiplication and division facts and reasoning problems. In PSHE, we have been looking into road safety, thinking about the decisions that people make that affect the safety of themselves and others and debating some possible ways of improving road safety in our own lives.
We have done a lot of work this term and are very deserving of a holiday. Thank you for your support and the very kind and generous gifts that you gave to the staff who work regularly with Corvus - it really is appreciated. Happy holidays!
Draco
In Draco, we have been building our retrieval skills in English and recapping our multiplication facts in Maths. In preparation for the Multiplication Tables Check, which is taken by pupils at the end of year 4, please ensure that over the Christmas period, children are confident in their understanding of the following multiplication tables: (2x, 4x, 8x) where doubling a number in the 2s table gives you the 4s, and doubling the 4s gives the 8s. In RE, we have been discussing the following question: What is the most significant part of the Nativity story for Christians? Some of the children used this opportunity to demonstrate their talk tactics in order to dig deeper for evidence and justification of ideas.
Thank you for your continued support and your very generous gift. Wishing you a lovely Christmas holiday and a happy new year!
Home Learning
Home learning remains the same as in previous weeks. Please continue to encourage regular reading at home and support your child in practising the words they have recorded in their spelling logbooks.
HSA Christmas Bazaar
We’d like to thank the HSA committee for all their hard work this year. The Christmas Bazaar was roaring success and we appreciate how much work it takes to plan and run an event like that. Their hard work and all of your generosity has allowed us to purchase new furniture for Hestia space.
