Columba and Aquila - Reflect and Review

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had another productive and engaging week of learning.

In English, as writers we created narratives set in Tudor times, focusing on powerful punctuation, dialogue, setting descriptions and the use of ambitious vocabulary.

As mathematicians, Columba focused on rounding to the nearest whole number, rounding to one decimal place, and developing their understanding of percentages. Aquila began exploring statistics, interpreting and presenting data.

As historians, we continued exploring the people and events that shaped Tudor England, deepening our understanding of life during this period. We also developed our historical enquiry skills by researching and presenting information clearly using digital slides.

Next Week

Our main focus will be RE, exploring the enquiry question: How significant is it for Christians to believe that God intended Jesus to die?

In Maths, Columba will focus on percentages as fractions and decimals, as well as equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages. Aquila will be exploring plotting points on a 4 quadrant graph and translating shapes.

Home Learning

Thank you for your continued support with learning at home—it really makes a difference. Please continue to encourage your child to read daily and practise their spellings regularly, as this supports confidence and fluency across all areas of learning.

Columba Spelling Challenge: Children are encouraged to practise their spelling words at home and show their teachers—they can earn raffle tickets towards a big prize for their effort and progress.

Maths Practice Journals are due on Monday, as we will mark them in class that day. Please also support your child in revisiting key maths skills at home.
