Columba and Aquila - Reflect and Review

Dear Parents and Carers,

We enjoyed a fun and festive Spirit Week this week, with All Aboard the Polar Express, Christmas Jumper Day, Head-to-Toe Christmas and Sparkle and Shine. It was wonderful to see the children embracing the Christmas spirit and celebrating together.

In English, we planned and wrote our own documentary reports. We applied cohesive devices and carefully selected vocabulary to create clear, engaging and informative pieces. We also focused on using similes and semicolons effectively to improve fluency and impact in our writing.

As mathematicians, Columba practised subtracting fractions from a mixed number and subtracting two mixed numbers, applying these skills in a variety of contexts to strengthen understanding and confidence.

In RE, we explored the enquiry question: Does belief in the Trinity help Christians make better sense of God as a whole? We made links between the consubstantial nature of God as three persons and the shared attributes within the Trinity. We also considered how people can have different aspects to their own nature, helping us reflect more deeply on Christian beliefs.

Home Learning

Home learning remains the same as in previous weeks. Please continue to encourage regular reading at home and support your child in practising the words they have recorded in their spelling logbooks.

HSA Christmas Bazaar

We’d like to thank the HSA committee for all their hard work this year. The Christmas Bazaar was roaring success and we appreciate how much work it takes to plan and run an event like that. Their hard work and all of your generosity has allowed us to purchase new furniture for Hestia space. 

We wish you all a wonderful Christmas holiday, filled with good health, rest, and beautiful memories.
