Columba and Aquila - Reflect and Review

Dear Parents and Carers,

Another great week of hard work and amazing learning across Columba and Aquila! The children have shown great enthusiasm and creativity in everything they have done.

This week, Columba and Aquila Class took part in their second LEGO workshop. Pupils developed their LEGO house designs further by creating short stop-motion animations to bring their stories to life. They presented their work to the class and reflected thoughtfully on their design choices, demonstrating excellent creativity and collaboration.

As writers, we focused on the features of non-chronological reports and how to use cohesive devices effectively. Columba gathered information and planned their reports, while Aquila began writing theirs. As mathematicians, Columba explored multiplication, common multiples, and factors. As theologians, we continued our Sikh enquiry, learning about the three golden rules of Sikhism — honesty, sharing, and remembering God. We also explored the importance of equality, the meaning of Seva (selfless service), and how Sikhs show devotion through prayer and community service.

Next Week

In English, Columba will write their non-chronological reports using the information they have gathered from texts and digital sources, while Aquila will focus on editing.

In Maths, Columba will explore factors, common factors, and prime numbers.

In RE, we will continue our Sikh enquiry, focusing on the actions a Sikh may carry out and the feelings involved in putting effort into following their religion.

Home Learning

Please remember to return the Maths Practice Journals on Monday. Columba class should continue to practise spellings from the Years 3–4 and Years 5–6 word lists. All children are encouraged to revisit the words in their spelling logbooks regularly throughout the week.
